Sharing your Stream & Audio over OBS¶
Written by lunazera
This is just a quick reference for setting up discord streams into Discord in Windows.
I always have trouble setting up audio properly when discord sharing where I want people to be able to hear my stream mix in OBS. There's two ways to do this; you can screen share an OBS preview window, or your can share the OBS virtual camera as a Device. This second way is much more convenient because you can define a separate audio device to stream as your audio source for Discord.
This is made even easier if you're using Elgato's Wavelink 3.0, which lets you set up multiple output mixes.
How To¶
- In your audio mixing app, create a stream mix of the audio sources you want heard in OBS.
- Start your OBS Virtual Camera, setting it to either Program or Preview
- In Discord, share your screen under the Device tab. When you share through here, there will be two audio sources. One is audio from the application (which you can mute or let through), and the other is an additional audio device that Discord mixes in Discord will probably make this your microphone, but you can set this device to another thing.
- Set this audio device to be your stream mix you set up in your audio app PS Discord likes to crop this list if your window is too small.
Doing it this way, you don't have to mess with audio monitoring in OBS, so you're less likely to mess up your setup :3
